Federal Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)

Lets parents borrow for post-secondary education of dependent children.

• Up to 10 years to repay. Repayment normally begins within 30 days after final disbursement.
• Parents can borrow up to the cost of education minus any other financial aid the student is receiving.
• New deferment option on loans first disbursed after January 1, 2008 until six months after graduation or student drops below half-time enrollment.
• Reduce Your Loan Rate with Automatic Payment Deductions: Receive an additional 0.25% off your rate when your payments are automatically deducted from a Navy Federal checking account or other financial institution's savings or checking account.
  Effective on Stafford and PLUS Loans disbursed after July 1, 2000, and effective on consolidation loans after May 1, 2002.
