Protect Yourself With Proof of Ownership

When purchasing a vehicle, always obtain a copy of the title from the dealership or seller. The copy will verify that the dealership or seller will have the ability to perform the required paperwork on the title and therefore ensures you can be recorded as the new owner.

A copy of the title may also be useful in obtaining a duplicate title if for some reason the dealership or seller does not complete the transfer of title. If a copy of the title is not provided, we recommend that you do not purchase the vehicle.
